Dental and vision coverage fills a real gap. Most health plans don't cover routine dental or eye care for adults, so a separate plan picks up cleanings, exams, glasses, and the bigger work when you need it. Below is how the plan types compare and what they typically cover, so you can pick the right fit.

Why it's worth it

Benefits of a dental & vision plan.

Routine and preventive care

Most plans cover cleanings, exams, and X-rays. Staying current on preventive visits is how you avoid bigger problems later.

Lower out-of-pocket on big work

When you need a filling, crown, or root canal, a plan shares the cost instead of leaving the whole bill to you.

Standalone or add-on

You can own a standalone dental or vision plan on its own, or pair it with your health coverage. You keep a standalone plan even if your health plan changes.

Tied to whole-body health

Oral and eye health are connected to your overall health. Regular checkups can catch issues early, before they get expensive.

Pick the right type

Dental & vision FAQs

Questions most clients ask.

Is dental insurance worth it?
For many people, yes. A plan shares the cost of cleanings, exams, and bigger work like fillings and crowns. Whether it pays off depends on how much dental care you expect to use. We will walk through your situation honestly instead of selling you a plan you won't use.
Can I get dental or vision standalone, or only as an add-on?
Both. You can own a standalone dental or vision plan without an underlying health policy, or pair it with your health coverage. A standalone plan stays with you even if your health plan changes mid-year.
Are there waiting periods?
Often, yes, especially for major services like crowns and root canals. Preventive care like cleanings and exams is usually available right away. Waiting periods vary by plan, and we tell you each plan's waiting periods before you enroll.
Does dental cover orthodontics or implants?
Sometimes. Orthodontic coverage is frequently a separate rider with a lifetime maximum, and implant coverage varies a lot from plan to plan. If you need ortho or implants, tell us and we will check which plans actually include them.
Can I get dental and vision together?
Yes. You can carry both. Some carriers bundle them, and in other cases we pair a dental plan with a vision plan. A Plansure broker compares the options available in your area.
